Macon Cottages

The main campus is located in Macon and was established in 1872 by the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Over 10,000 children have been served in the 139 years of ministering to the needs of children, youth, and their families. In 2010, over 740 children, youth, and families were served by the programs of The Methodist Home for Children & Youth.
Gould Cottage: Gould Cottage was built in 1907, and later named after businessman and philanthropist Edwin Gould. The building has been renovated several times, most recently in 2007.
Collum Cottage: Collum Cottage was built in 1986. Named for Alice Bussey Collum, the cottage was given by the estate of her husband, Willet Neal Collum. This cottage is one of our most attractive inside.
Young Cottage: Young Cottage was built in 1988. It was given by Mary Martinez Young in memory of her mother and Methodist Home alumni Maina Walker Young.
Sullivan Cottage: We were blessed with Sullivan Cottage in 1988. This fine cottage is built in memory of Raymond Eugene Sullivan by his family.
Smith Cottage: Smith Cottage was built in 1964, and named in honor of Rev. J.A. Smith long-time Agent of The Methodist Home. He had the unenviable task of raising the funds to keep The Home open throughout The Great Depression. Smith Cottage has been renovated in 1995 and 2000.
Miss Margaret’s Cottage: Miss Margaret’s Cottage was built in 1997, and named for legendary philanthropist Miss Margaret Pitts. This building was constructed with the needs of the STARS program and the residential needs of children in mind.
