Chapel

Our residents and staff participate in campus wide Wednesday afternoon chapel services. Our services start with a prayer by our Chaplain, a staff member or more often than not, by one of the residents. We then read “at-a-boys” from our residents thanking their peers and staff for their positive involvement and support in their lives. A typical service may include a message to review the lessons we have learned over the previous several weeks. We discuss how God is with us in times of trouble, our responsibilities for spiritual growth, and how service to others helps in our Christian walk. The residents read selected scripture from the Bible to support the message and dialog is encouraged to help solidify the learning of God’s truth.

During a recent service we had a new employee and a former resident of The Methodist Home support our message by relating her experiences as a resident. She shared how God’s work along with the work of the staff helped her through difficult times and helped build a solid foundation on which she has built her life. Our services are concluded with a prayer by the Chaplain, a staff member, or a resident.

Participation in chapel services is voluntary; our desire is to invite children into a relationship with Christ and love them into faith.
