Having great activities and experiences in childhood provides the bountiful memories which bless our lives. Special activities for the children at The Methodist Home for Children and Youth include:
· Swimming – we have our own campus pool.
· Art – provided twice a week throughout the school year. We have an arts and crafts room in the Rumford Center.
· Music – volunteers help us teach music on an ad hoc basis. We seek lessons for those children who are interested.
· Sports – We have our own tennis courts, softball field, racquetball/handball court, weight room, and both indoor and outdoor basketball courts. We have co-ed leagues on campus for softball, football, volleyball, basketball, and soccer (each in season). We encourage our children and youth to participate in school athletics and community-based recreation programs.
· Field Trips – we offer several different types of field trips:
· Day Outings – Six Flags, Whitewater Park, trips to Braves games, trips to Atlanta Falcons games, trips to Atlanta Hawks games, trips to UGA college football games, trips to theaters, to museums, and to community festivals.
· Ski Trip – each winter for the older youth.
· White Water rafting trip – for both girls and boys on an alternating basis.
· Spring Break Trip – a campus-wide outing to a fun location such as Myrtle Beach.
· Summer Trip – one for older youth, one for younger youth. We have enjoyed trips to exciting places such as New York and Orlando.
